Top Free Apps at Amazon, Google Play & iTunes Store Now

As of June 15, the top free apps at the Google Play and iTunes Stores include some of the most well-known titles around.  Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the social media sites Facebook and Instagram, as well as that highly-addictive, candy-crushing game known as “Candy Crush Saga.”  All three of those are among the top free downloads as of our latest check.

Amazon Top 5 Free Apps:

ninja-chicken-gameAs we’ve noted in previous reports, there’s still no Candy Crush Saga on the Kindle Fire HD, but we’ve seen plenty of copycats popping up at the App Store.  Amazon’s top free apps list is topped by games.  The #1 as of our report is “Ninja Chicken,” followed by Crazy Dentist, Tetris Blitz, and Bible Slots.  It’s a crazy variety of games, but that’s what’s popular for free right now.  We suspect Candy Crush would be among them, if it were available for the device.

Google Play Store Top 5 Free Apps:

At the Google Play store, Android device owners are able to download and install tons of apps.  While some say it isn’t quite as vast as the Apple iTunes Store’s app selection, they’re definitely working to catch up.  As of June 15, here’s a look at their top 5:

As seen above, Candy Crush is the only free game ranking in the top 5, or top 10 for that matter.  Other notables appearing in Google Play’s Top 10 free apps are Netflix, Skype, The Weather Channel and Twitter.  So for the most part, it’s all about social media, productivity, music, and of course, crushing candy.

iTunes Store Top 5 Free Apps:

Over at the iTunes Music Store, their Top 5 is a bit different, as there are three games being downloaded a lot out of the top 5 popular choices.  Currently, #1 belongs to a game based on “Despicable Me,” likely in anticipation of the new movie sequel.  Candy Crush Saga used to top the iTunes app store at the #1 spot, but has since fallen to #4.  Meanwhile, on both lists from iTunes and Google, it appears the mini-video sharing app Vine has begun its ascension.

Also in the top 10 for iTunes App Store, we see several more games popping up.  “Guess the Brand,” “What the Riddle?,” and “Avengers Alliance” are all among the apps listed, with a Photo and Video app called “Snapchat” also on the list.

Which of the apps mentioned above do you find yourself using the most right now?  Are you a Candy Crush Saga addict?
