Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX & HD Tablets on Sale 11/4

A variety of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets are on sale for November 4th, as a thank you to the Federal Aviation Administration.  The discounted tablets available are in the 7-inch sized versions and include the brand new Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX models with Wi-Fi.  The discount for Nov. 4 only is 15% which reduces the prices of at least three of the popular tablets that Amazon sells.

Various sources including Amazon report that the latest discounts come to thank the FAA for a recent lifting of restrictions on the use of tablets by passengers during take-off and landing on board flights.  As a special thank you for today only, Amazon allows customers to buy a tablet at 15% off and save up to $34 on the devices.  The regular Kindle Fire is reduced by $10 to $59, while the Kindle Fire HD is down from $139 to $118, a savings of $21.  The brand new Kindle Fire HDX is reduced to $195, normally $229.  View all sales prices here.

In order to take advantage of the Kindle sales deal here, customers need to enter the special promotional code “ThnksFAA” when checking out with their tablet in the shopping cart. Amazon notes in the fine print on a pop-up box that the deal is limited to one discount per customer, while supplies last.  They also note the deal only extends to all versions of Kindle, Kindle Fire HD 7” and Kindle Fire HDX 7” tablets.

The discounted Kindle Fire tablets sale comes just days after the new Apple iPad Air was released, with Walmart selling the larger-sized tablets for $20 lower at $479.  Walmart is also selling the 2012 version of the iPad Mini for $299, as part of their pre-Black Friday sales on various items, which also include iPads and iPods, among other electronics devices.  It’s unknown at this time if either retailer will offer lower prices on tablets once the Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2013 sales begin.
